On my first day in Bangkok, I stayed at the Movenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok. I originally planned to book a cheap hotel for under 50$ due to my late flight and early departure, but I decided to splurge on a high-class hotel at an affordable price.
I chose the Movenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok for its location near Asok Station, which offers good transportation. I paid about 100$ for my hotel room, which included breakfast, on a weekday.
location
The Movenpick Hotel is situated along the alley between Asok and Nana Stations. It takes approximately 10 minutes to walk to the both station.
Moreover, there is a 7-Eleven convenience store right next door, making it easy to purchase food or daily necessities.
Check-in
Arriving in Bangkok, I took a taxi and arrived at around 1:00 AM.
As it is a 5-star hotel, you can meet high ceilings and a well-decorated lobby.
- Check-in time – 14:00
- Check-out time – 12:00
It was nice to have more time for check-in and check-out than typical hotels. The hotel is divided into Buildings 1 and 2, with check-in available in Building 1. Building 2 has most of the facilities, including a swimming pool, and a restaurant that serves breakfast on the Ground Floor of Building 1.
You can find the operating hours for the hotel facilities and the Wi-Fi password on the notice above the lobby where you check out. The free chocolate hour, open from 4pm to 5pm, is a standout feature. Maybe it’s because Movenpick is also a brand that sells chocolate and ice cream. It’s a shame that I couldn’t enjoy the chocolate hour because I arrived at the hotel late.
Guest room
I reserved the “Speier King” room and was greeted by an extra-large bed upon entering the spacious room. The bed was actually two beds put together and made to look like one with a futon, but it was still comfortable to sleep on. A small desk and chair were provided next to the bed for placing food and eating, and there was also a TV desk and refrigerator in the room.
Two bottles of water were provided on the desk, but there were no other products available in the refrigerator. One downside of this room was that it was connected to another room, which would have been a plus if I had been staying with family, but it was a bit disappointing since I was not. Although the door was well-locked, I could still hear the guests in the next room talking even though they weren’t very loud.
The bathroom had a shower booth with a washbasin and toilet on either side. There was no separate bathtub, but amenities such as body lotion were provided. There was also a luggage space and a closet safe at the entrance.
During the day, the room had a view of the building on the other side, so I kept the curtains closed based on the lowest priced room.
breakfast buffet
- Breakfast time – 06:30 ~ 11:00
The breakfast room was located in Building 2 of the hotel, while I was staying in Building 1. However, it was conveniently connected to the lobby on the ground floor.
Upon arrival, I noticed many people enjoying their breakfast. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, including stir-fries, and egg dishes. Additionally, they provided a diverse selection of items, such as salad, warm porridge, bread, and fruit. Although I had a satisfying breakfast, I was disappointed that they did not offer rice noodles.
The green cream in the picture is pandan custard cream, which was provided by most of the hotels in Bangkok I visited. It was my first time trying it, but I enjoyed it with bread and would recommend it to others.
Pool/Fitness Center
- Fitness center operating hours – 06:00 ~ 22:00
The fitness center is located on the 7th floor of Building 2. Since someone was using it, I simply took pictures from outside. Although it wasn’t big, it was neat and appeared to be in good condition for use.
- Swimming pool operating hours – 06:00 ~ 22:00
Located above the fitness center is the swimming pool. Surrounding buildings restrict any notable views, however the pool size is substantial and there is a small separate pool adjacent. With relatively few users in attendance, one can leisurely enjoy swimming.
A bar resides adjacent, allowing for the convenience of ordering drinks or snacks.
