One of the must-try dishes when you visit Thailand is Pu Phat Pong Curry. It’s a delicious combination of rich curry, creamy coconut milk, and tender crab, making it a favorite for locals and tourists alike. I recently visited Northeast Bangkok, a restaurant famous for its Soft Shell Crab Pu Phat Pong Curry, and here’s how it went!

1. Northeast Location

Northeast Bangkok is conveniently located near the famous Lumpini Park, one of Bangkok’s must-visit spots. From Lumpini MRT Station (Blue Line), it’s just a five-minute walk. After your meal, a stroll through the park, where you can even spot giant monitor lizards, makes for a perfect day.

2. Northeast Opening Hours

Hours: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Closed on Sundays)

3. Waiting Time

When I arrived just after 4 PM, the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, likely because it was outside peak dining hours. I was seated quickly, but by the time I left, there were a few people waiting. Most of the customers were tourists, particularly from Korea, with some international visitors.

4. Northeast Menu and Prices

The menu was available in English, so I had no trouble ordering. I was dining alone, so I chose a few dishes: Soft Shell Crab Pu Phat Pong Curry, Morning Glory Stir Fry, and a refreshing Watermelon Juice (Taeng Mo Ban).

This was the highlight of my meal. The curry was rich with coconut milk and perfectly sweet, and the crab was crispy and flavorful. The portion was generous enough for two people, though I managed to finish it all on my own! If you love curry and seafood, this is a must-try.

Next came the Morning Glory Stir Fry, another large portion. The dish was seasoned with oyster sauce, which balanced out the richness of the curry. The fresh taste made it a perfect pairing.

Watermelon Juice (Taeng Mo Ban)

In Thailand, Taeng Mo Ban is a staple, and Northeast Bangkok offers a massive serving. It’s more than enough for two people to share, and incredibly refreshing on a hot Bangkok day.

Northeast Bangkok offers great value, especially considering the portion sizes and quality. The Soft Shell Crab Pu Phat Pong Curry is definitely worth trying, and the location near Lumpini Park makes it a perfect spot for a meal after a peaceful walk in the park.
