Sapporo is celebrated for its unique lamb dishes, with “Jingisukan” (a lamb BBQ on a round iron grill) as a must-try. Yozora no Jingisukan takes this tradition further, offering unlimited lamb BBQ and drinks for a complete Japanese dining experience. This was my second visit to a lamb BBQ spot in Sapporo after trying the popular Daruma, and Yozora no Jingisukan did not disappoint.
Location and Hours for Yozora no Jingisukan
- Opening Hours: 5 PM to 1 AM (Main Branch)
- Branches: There are six Yozora no Jingisukan locations in Sapporo, all conveniently located around the bustling Susukino area.
I visited the main branch, situated at the heart of Susukino, making it easy to find. It’s located on an upper floor, so look for signage directing you to the 10th floor. The main branch operates until 1 AM, while other branches may close around 12:30 AM.
Wait Time and Reservation Tips
Yozora no Jingisukan is popular, so waiting times can be expected. I visited on a weekday around 10 PM and was seated immediately. If there’s a wait, consider other nearby branches, or make a reservation online via Google Maps for convenience.
Interior Ambiance at Yozora no Jingisukan
As you exit the elevator on the 10th floor, you’ll find shoe lockers before entering. The restaurant features a counter around the grill and floor seating for larger groups. It’s a cozy setup ideal for an authentic Japanese BBQ experience.
The restaurant doesn’t offer an English menu, so using a translation app is recommended. Yozora no Jingisukan specializes in all-you-can-eat options, including:
- Lamb BBQ Tabehodai: JPY 4,980 or JPY 4,280 (with slight differences in meat variety)
- Unlimited Drinks (Nomihodai): Add JPY 1,700 for unlimited selections from a two-page drink menu
You-Can-Eat Lamb BBQ(Tabehodai)
I chose the all-you-can-eat lamb BBQ. It started with two types of seasoned lamb: classic and soy-based. The lamb was tender with a satisfying flavor, complemented by sides like vegetables and mushrooms, grilled directly on the iron plate.
Additional side dishes, such as Japanese kimchi, salads, and rice, are available. I highly recommend pairing the lamb with rice or kimchi to balance the rich flavors.
Unlimited Drinks(Nomihodai)
A great addition to this experience is the Nomihodai, which starts with a cold draft beer and includes options like highballs and sake. I tried the popular “Yubari Melon Sour,” a refreshing, melon-flavored cocktail perfect for unwinding.
Yozora no Jingisukan vs. Daruma Jingisukan
Having visited Daruma the day before, I noticed a slight difference in lamb quality. While Yozora’s meat was satisfying for an all-you-can-eat setting, Daruma’s premium cuts left a more lasting impression. If you’re looking for endless lamb and drinks at an affordable price, Yozora no Jingisukan is ideal. However, for higher-end lamb, consider Daruma, keeping in mind that it doesn’t accept reservations and has longer wait times.
Final Thoughts
Yozora no Jingisukan offers an enjoyable all-you-can-eat lamb BBQ experience in Sapporo, perfect for anyone craving lamb and drinks. While English menus aren’t available, a translation app helps navigate. If you’re in Sapporo, don’t miss this place for an authentic Japanese BBQ experience.
