Have you ever dreamed of soaking in a warm infinity pool while gazing at breathtaking Swiss mountain views? I know I have! That’s exactly what led me to discover the wonderful Kurhaus Cademario Hotel Lugano during my recent trip to Lugano, Switzerland.
There’s something magical about finding a perfect balance between luxury and relaxation when traveling, isn’t there? After a long day of exploring Swiss towns and hiking beautiful trails, I was craving that perfect spot to unwind. And let me tell you, this hilltop retreat did not disappoint!

Kurhaus Cademario Hotel Lugano Location
Kurhaus Cademario Hotel Lugano sits proudly at the top of a mountain, a bit away from downtown Lugano. While it’s not exactly in the city center (which honestly can be a blessing), the distance gives you those jaw-dropping panoramic views that are absolutely worth it.

We had a rental car, which made getting around pretty convenient. But don’t worry if you’re not planning to rent one – there’s a regular bus service that runs between Lugano station and the hotel. Just keep in mind that if you’re planning lots of evening outings to restaurants in town, the commute might get a bit tiresome.

The hotel’s secluded location is actually part of its charm. After a busy day of sightseeing, coming back to this peaceful mountain retreat felt like entering a different world – quiet, serene, and far from the tourist crowds.
Parking: Free
One thing I absolutely loved? The free parking! I mean, anyone who’s traveled through Switzerland knows that parking can get pretty expensive, especially at upscale hotels. But at Kurhaus Cademario, there’s plenty of parking space available at no extra cost. It’s these little perks that make such a difference when you’re traveling, right?
Check-in Experience
- Check-in hours: 3:00 PM to midnight
- Check-out time: 11:00 AM
The lobby greets you immediately as you enter the hotel. They had welcome drinks available, though you need to ask the staff to serve them. We said we’d have ours after checking in, but honestly, we got distracted by exploring the hotel and never got around to it!

The building itself is clearly historic, but they’ve done a fantastic job with the interior design. There are so many cozy nooks and comfortable spaces scattered throughout the property that invite you to sit and relax. Even though the hotel isn’t brand new, it has this timeless elegance that’s really appealing.
Our Room: Exclusive Garden View
We booked an Exclusive Garden View room for three people, and I was pleasantly surprised by the setup.

Our room was situated in a corner, which meant we had windows on two sides – talk about room with a view! This gave us different perspectives of the surrounding landscape, which was absolutely gorgeous.

The room came with two single beds plus an extra bed for our third person. I noticed there was a connecting door to the adjacent room, which would be perfect for families or larger groups wanting connecting accommodations.

Inside, we found bathrobes, a handy basket (great for pool trips!), a mini-fridge, and a safe. These little amenities made our stay much more comfortable.

The bathroom featured a separate shower stall and came well-stocked with toiletries – so no need to worry if you forget to pack your shower gel! There was also a drying rack near the bathroom, perfect for hanging wet swimwear after enjoying the pool.
The only downside? Our shower had some drainage issues. We called the front desk, and they sent someone up pretty quickly to try to fix it. Unfortunately, they couldn’t completely resolve the problem. I guess that’s one of the challenges with historic buildings – sometimes the plumbing is a bit temperamental. Not a huge issue, but slightly inconvenient.
Room Views: Worth Every Penny
While our room was officially categorized as a Garden View, we got lucky with our corner location. From one window, we could see the gardens and hillside, but from the other, we caught glimpses of Lake Lugano sparkling in the distance.

But honestly, even if your room doesn’t have the lake view, don’t stress about it. The hotel’s common areas – especially the pool and restaurant – offer stunning panoramas that all guests can enjoy.
Swimming Pool & Spa: The Real Highlight
Okay, now for the BEST part of the hotel – the thermal pool! Kurhaus Cademario features an incredible indoor-outdoor connected pool with warm water. Imagine floating in perfectly heated water while gazing down at Lake Lugano and the surrounding mountains. Absolute bliss!

We made the most of this feature, taking a dip right after arrival and then again after breakfast the next morning. Swimming in such a picturesque setting was definitely one of the highlights of our entire Swiss trip.

The hotel also offers sauna facilities next to the pool area, though we didn’t use them as they required nude use (which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea). During warmer seasons, there’s an additional outdoor swimming pool behind the hotel that opens up for guests.

Fitness Center: Well-Equipped
For fitness enthusiasts, the hotel gym won’t disappoint. It’s equipped with modern Technogym equipment including treadmills and various strength training machines. After indulging in all that delicious Swiss chocolate and cheese, it was nice to have the option to squeeze in a workout!

Breakfast: A Feast with a View
- Breakfast hours: 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM
We opted for the breakfast-included rate when booking our stay. If you decide to add breakfast later, it costs around 35 Swiss Francs per person – a bit pricey but typical for Switzerland.

The breakfast room is spacious and wasn’t crowded during our stay, which made for a relaxed morning meal. We arrived early and snagged a table by the window with stunning views of Lake Lugano – the perfect way to start the day!

The breakfast spread was impressive and included:
- Various hams, cheeses, and smoked salmon
- Fresh bread, yogurt, and fruits
- Selection of juices and sparkling water
- Hot items like sausages, scrambled eggs, and bacon

I was particularly impressed by the variety of breads and pastries. Each morning, I made it my mission to try something different, and I wasn’t disappointed!
Final Thoughts
Our one-night stay at Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa was the perfect mid-trip recharge during our Swiss adventure. The thermal pool with its breathtaking views was definitely the standout feature, but the comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, and peaceful atmosphere all contributed to a memorable experience.
If you’re planning a trip to Lugano and looking for a place that offers relaxation, wellness, and incredible views all in one package, I can’t recommend this place enough. Sometimes the best vacation memories come from those special places where you can truly relax and recharge.
