Grand Base Fukuoka Tenjin Location
3 Chome-6-2 Watanabedori, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka, 810-0004, Japan
The Grand Base Fukuoka Tenjin Hotel is conveniently located just a 4-minute walk from Watanabe Dori Station and about a 7-minute walk from Tenjin Minami Station. It’s also one subway stop from Tenjin Station or a 15-minute walk. The hotel’s location is ideal, with numerous shopping malls, restaurants, and Canal City within a 10-minute walk.
On my last day in Fukuoka, I stayed at the Grand Base Hotel. Despite the rain, I easily reached Tenjin Station via the underground shopping street, which connects Tenjin Minami and Tenjin stations, allowing me to avoid the rain.
Parking Availability
There is a paid parking lot right in front of the hotel. While there are no special benefits for hotel guests, and the price is not particularly cheap, it is convenient if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling by rental car. I parked briefly to unload my luggage before returning the car.

To enter the building, you need to input a keypad password sent to your email upon booking. The Grand Base Fukuoka Tenjin Hotel operates as a self-service hotel, so you’ll check in via a tablet at the front desk. Enter your personal information, which can be time-consuming, but pre-registration via email allows for a quicker check-in using a QR code.
After entering your details, you’ll video call a staff member and deposit cash into the provided box. Note that the accommodation tax is 200 yen per person for stays under 20,000 yen and 500 yen per person for stays above 20,000 yen. Have cash ready as cards and change are not accepted.
Once check-in is complete, your room number and password will be displayed on the tablet. Take a photo of this information as it won’t be printed or sent via message.
Standard Twin Room
The Grand Base Fukuoka Tenjin Hotel offers standard twin rooms for up to four adults. Finding accommodations for a family of four in Japan can be challenging, making this hotel a great option.
I stayed in a standard room on the first floor, which was surprisingly accessible and convenient. Even if you’re not on the first floor, the building has an elevator to help with luggage.
The room was spacious with two single beds, perfect for two people. However, the mattress and bedding quality was slightly below that of a standard hotel.
In front of the beds was a desk and TV. The long desk was useful for placing various items. Although not pictured, the room had an air purifier with a humidifying function, which I used due to the dry air.
The kitchenette had a hot plate and sink, and while not large, it was sufficient for simple cooking. Although I didn’t cook, the room was equipped with pots, pans, and dishes.
The refrigerator included a freezer, and the room also had a microwave and electric kettle, perfect for reheating convenience store food.
The bathroom was spacious, with a separate shower and bathtub, and a separate toilet and sink area. One of the hotel’s highlights is the in-room washing machine, complete with detergent, ideal for long stays. The bathroom also features a drying function, allowing you to dry clothes using the remote control.
Breakfast Availability
The hotel does not have a dining area for breakfast. However, its prime location makes it easy to find nearby restaurants. Alternatively, you can purchase bread, bento boxes, or coffee from a convenience store for a simple breakfast.
