Looking for the perfect place to stay in Tokyo that combines convenience with traditional Japanese amenities? That’s exactly what I was searching for during my recent trip to Japan. You know how stressful it can be trying to find that ideal accommodation, right?

Truth is, I struck gold when I found Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya-Jingumae. This hotel sits perfectly between two of Tokyo’s most exciting districts and offers something many city hotels don’t – a genuine onsen experience right in the heart of the metropolis!
Why Choose Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya-Jingumae?
Shibuya is one of Tokyo’s busiest and most popular areas, attracting countless tourists who make it a priority stop on their Tokyo itinerary. It’s not just a tourist hotspot but also a preferred accommodation choice for many visitors. That’s why I decided to base myself in Shibuya for my Tokyo adventure.
The hotel I booked, Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya-Jingumae, turned out to be an excellent choice. With its strategic location in Shibuya, great accessibility, and – get this – an actual public bath where you can enjoy a warm onsen, it was honestly a truly satisfying accommodation experience. Let me share all the details about the rooms, the amazing onsen bath, and breakfast information.
Location & Accessibility (Perfect for Tokyo Explorers!)
Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya-Jingumae boasts an exceptional location between Shibuya and Harajuku, making it incredibly accessible for tourists. It’s approximately a 10-minute walk from Shibuya Station, with Miyashita Park along the way providing a pleasant stroll opportunity.
Honestly, I couldn’t have picked a better spot. Harajuku is just up the hill, offering abundant shopping destinations and restaurants, making this an optimal base for exploration.

The location seriously couldn’t be better for first-time Tokyo visitors.
Check-in & Check-out Process
- Check-in: 3:00 PM
- Check-out: 11:00 AM
I arrived at the hotel a bit early and was able to store my luggage with the front desk while exploring Shibuya. When I returned later for proper check-in, they had already delivered my suitcase to my room – such a thoughtful touch! This meant I didn’t have to carry my luggage myself, allowing me to enter my room hassle-free.

One thing to note – amenities aren’t provided in the rooms. You’ll need to collect what you need from the amenity station on the first floor.
Also, there was an accommodation tax since my stay exceeded 15,000 yen, requiring an additional 200 yen per person. Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind.

Room Details (Small but Efficient)

The rooms at Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya-Jingumae have a slightly different layout than typical hotels. When you open the door, you’ll see two doors – one leading to the bedroom and the other to the bathroom. The sink and refrigerator are on the right. This compartmentalized arrangement definitely gives you a feel of Japanese hotel design.

I’d booked a double room, so there was just one bed. The room size was typical of Japanese hotels – not spacious but adequate enough to lay out my suitcase. In front of the bed was a small TV, desk, and humidifier.

Since the sink was already at the entrance, the bathroom just contained a toilet and shower booth. The shower booth was clean, but I mostly used the public bath facilities. Inside the fridge, there was a complimentary pudding-like dessert similar to what traditional Japanese ryokans provide.
I’ve stayed at other Dormy Inn brand hotels before, and most have this compartmentalized structure rather than a single connected room. When you enter, you see two doors – one for the bathroom and one for the bedroom, with a sink area in front.

While the room wasn’t spacious, it had enough storage for luggage, which was convenient.
The Public Bath (The Real Highlight!)
- Public Bath Hours: 5:00 AM – 10:00 AM / 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM

The main reason I chose this hotel was for its public bath. It’s pretty special to experience an onsen in the middle of Tokyo! Located on the second floor, the bath isn’t huge, but enjoying a warm natural hot spring in the middle of the city was incredibly satisfying. I was a bit disappointed there wasn’t an outdoor bath section as I love experiencing hot springs in the cool outdoor air.

After bathing, free yogurt and ice cream are provided. The Hershey’s chocolate ice cream was particularly delicious – I had several servings! If you go late in the evening, these treats might run out, so grab them when you see them!
Free Ramen Service (Perfect Midnight Snack)
- Service Hours: 9:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Location: Restaurant area next to the 1st-floor counter

The hotel offers complimentary ramen during night hours, which I was fortunate enough to try. It was a clean, soy sauce-based ramen – nothing extraordinary but perfect as a late-night snack. I bought a can of beer from a nearby convenience store to enjoy with it, making for a perfect end to a day of sightseeing.
Breakfast Buffet (Decent but Not Outstanding)
- Service Hours: 6:45 AM – 9:30 AM
- Price: 2,100 yen (pay at the venue)
- Location: 1st-floor restaurant
Breakfast is served buffet-style. I had an early flight that day, so I decided to have breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport.

The spread includes various egg dishes, sausages, fried items, Japanese side dishes, salad, fruit, yogurt, bread, and fish dishes.

However, I noticed not many guests were using the breakfast service, possibly because there are many great eateries nearby. The breakfast selection was somewhat disappointing, especially since I’d heard that Dormy Inn chain hotels usually offer good value breakfast options.

Personally, I think exploring local breakfast spots around the area might be a better choice than the hotel breakfast.
Other Facilities

- Laundry Facilities: Located inside the public bath area on the 2nd floor
- Vending Machines/Ice Maker: 2nd and 4th floors
- Microwave: 4th floor
Having ice machines and microwaves in the hotel was convenient for chilling drinks or heating food. The washing machines in the public bath area are handy for those needing to do laundry during their stay.
Final Verdict (Would Stay Again!)
Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya-Jingumae Hotel is an excellent accommodation with its proximity to Shibuya Station and its wonderful public bath. This place offers the perfect balance of comfortable rest while exploring Shibuya and Harajuku, making it a hotel I’d love to visit again. If you’re planning a Tokyo trip and looking for accommodation, I highly recommend considering this hotel.
To be honest, what really made this place stand out for me was the combination of location and that amazing onsen bath after a long day of walking around Tokyo. There’s nothing quite like soaking in hot mineral water to rejuvenate tired muscles before crawling into a comfortable bed!
