Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo sits in the Kawaramachi area, one of the most popular neighborhoods for accommodations in Kyoto. The hotel is about 500 meters from Kawaramachi Station, roughly a 10-minute walk.

The walk to the hotel is straightforward. You follow Teramachi Shopping Arcade, which makes it easy to find. The arcade has several restaurants and shops, and there are convenience stores near the hotel. The location worked well for exploring central Kyoto.

Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo check in counter

The check-in counter is on the first floor. Like many Japanese hotels, this property uses self-service kiosks for check-in and check-out. Staff members wait nearby to assist if needed. I checked in with help from staff and used the self-service machine when checking out.

There is a 200 yen accommodation tax per person at checkout. Kyoto charges this tax for lodging under 20,000 yen per night.

Amenities such as toothbrushes and razors are available in the lobby. The rooms already have basic toiletries, so check your room first before taking extras from the lobby area.

I booked a Twin Standard Room for solo travel. The room size exceeded my expectations.

The twin beds were larger than standard, comfortable for one person. The room included a sofa, a small table for meals, and enough floor space for luggage. The refrigerator had two bottles of water, and sleepwear was provided.

Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo bath room

The bathroom had a unique layout. The toilet and bath area had separate doors. The sink was positioned outside these rooms, near the entrance.

The bathroom featured both a shower and a bathtub, which was nice after walking around Kyoto all day.

The room had a pleasant view. No tall buildings blocked the sight, so I could see far into the distance. Kyoto Tower was visible from the window.

Breakfast Buffet with Eel and Sashimi

  • Operating Hours: 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM
  • Price: 1,980 yen for adults, 880 yen for children (on-site payment)

Breakfast is served on the first floor. Booking breakfast with your room reservation costs less than paying on-site. I included breakfast when I made my reservation.

The hotel promotes its breakfast quality through elevator advertisements and TV displays. The meal lived up to their confidence.

The breakfast room is moderately sized with close table spacing. I visited later in the morning and found plenty of available seats.

The buffet included grilled mackerel, Japanese side dishes, and dumpling soup. Fresh salad was available, along with a station serving made-to-order omelets and fried eggs.

French toast and scrambled eggs were also part of the spread. Various breads, juices, milk, and coffee were available. Paper cups allowed guests to take coffee to their rooms.

The breakfast highlight was the seafood selection: grilled eel, minced tuna sashimi, and salmon roe. Guests could make their own eel bowl or chirashi-style seafood rice bowl.
